{I loved ending my reading instruction on an author study. It's a great way to have students apply all the skills they have learned throughout the year. I also have a Chris Van Allsburg and Patricia Polacco author study available}
My FAVORITE writing unit of the year. In this unit your students design and make their own board games in small groups and then write the "How To Play" directions for the game. So much more fun than writing a "How to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich" procedural narrative. It was a perfect way to end the year because at the end of the unit we celebrated by playing the games!
